We have many volunteers at Millbrook and rely greatly on their hard work and commitment to assist the staff to care for our animals.

We are currently looking for volunteers for our kennel area. We require anyone that has experience with dogs, as it can be very challenging and physically demanding work. We are looking for people that can commit to volunteering at least once or twice a week, it is important that our dogs get the continuity for their individual needs.

The sort of experienced people needed for our dogs is:

Experienced dog owners

Previous dog walking experience with other charities

Any previous dog training experience. (Reward based methods only)

Working with our dogs can be very rewarding, you will be helping some of the most disadvantaged dogs find their way to new loving homes.

If you meet these requirements please email and

Please include any dog experience you have.

Unfornately we will only be able to reply to those with the relevant experience required.

We are also looking for anyone who would be interested in volunteering at our annual fundraising events. Please note these events are held at weekends. All proceeds raised go directly to the centre to benefit all the animals. If you are interesed in helping at any of our fundraisers please email the above addresses.

Volunteering at Millbrook is very popular, and so many people apply to do so throughout the year - please only apply if you are serious about volunteering your time. We put a lot of time and effort into taking on new volunteers and are sometimes let down by people not attending the workshops, which takes spaces away from those who are serious about joining our wonderful team of volunteers. Please be patient with us, as it takes a while to go through all the paperwork, and then to get new volunteers in.

Volunteers dog walking

Once you have completed these sessions you will be free to volunteer at the centre between 9.30am and 4pm for dog walking and 8.30am and 5pm for cattery and small animals. No volunteers can attend in the evenings.

All volunteers must be 18 years or over and due to health and safety no volunteers are allowed to work with the centres horses.
