Meet Poppy: A Gentle Soul Ready for a Quiet New Chapter

Poppy is a beautiful 11-year-old cat who is looking for a peaceful, loving retirement home after experiencing a major life change.

Her world was turned upside down when her beloved previous owner sadly passed away. Poppy has a sensitive nature and the sudden change and a subsequent stay in a busy cattery environment were incredibly overwhelming for her. Out of fear her coping mechanisms were to shut down and use hissing and spitting to tell people she needed space.

Poppy has been fostered by a member of the cattery team and in this new, quiet and stable environment she has shown her true colors. She has relaxed significantly, now enjoys gentle strokes, happily takes treats from her carer, and has even started playing with toys again.

Poppy is looking for a specific home environment where she can truly thrive at her own pace. She really needs an adult only home, a busy household or one with children would really worry her as would other pets, so she is to be the only pet in her new home - all of these things will really help her to feel secure.

Her new owners must have patience, they must understand feline body language and behaviour - Poppy didn't take long to come out of her shell in her foster home, so will hopefully be the same in her forever home. Poppy needs a hands-off approach: new owners must be content to let her come to them when she is ready.

If you have a quiet home and a heart big enough to give this senior lady the time and space she deserves, Poppy will reward your patience with quiet companionship.
