About us
Meet 'The Skinnies'; these six girls came from a multicat household and were found living in horrendous conditions, hiding amongst mountains of empty bottles and sadly other deceased animals. Their start to life has been one of the worst imaginable but this is where their new story begins.
As you can imagine they haven't had the appropriate handling or human interaction that all pet cats should have. This means they are not used to people handling them, however they are happy in our company and are very slowly learning that we are ok to have around. We have no history on them so we can only assume that they have never even seen the outside world until coming into our cattery.
When they came to us all of these cats were emaciated, some of them under 2kg, their coats were matted and filthy, they were dehydrated and they were just generally not in good shape, Rita had to spend a few days at the vets and we didn't think she would make it - but she's a tough one and she pulled through.
After a few months of medication, appropriate diets and lots of TLC, the girls are ready to find their forever homes. They are currently living in trios, it would be lovely for them to stay in these groups, but we understand that this is a big ask of most people, so we will be happy for them to go in pairs, and possibly a couple of them live by themselves.
Their fresh new life is waiting just round the corner- we just know it. But they do need really specific homes. They will find it tricky to adjust to new surroundings and new people, so the home they is looking for is a quiet one with a dedicated separate room to settle in first before venturing off into the rest of the house. A slow introduction to things is needed, including people, therefore having knowledge and experience with cats is essential. They need understanding, patience and time to adapt and learn that there is kindness and love there, ready and waiting.
Their new home will need to be low footfall, with access to the outside world eventually, lots of space and options of places to hide. Any children in the home will need to be of older secondary school age, and they are not to live with other pets. A hands off approach is exactly what this group of cats need, and hopefully one day they will learn to trust people, and let their true personalites shine through.
