About me

🐾 Meet Bear: Your Future Best Friend!

Bear came into our care after a tough past, arriving underweight and very shut down. But with a little time, patience, and love, his confidence has blossomed, his weight is up, and his sweet, gentle soul is shining through!

Bear is a clever, independent chap looking for a quiet forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and pampered—just as he deserves.

🌟 Bear’s Personality & Highlights

Gentle with a Cheeky Streak: Bear is a gentle soul at heart, but he does have a fun, cheeky side! He can occasionally get a bit over-excited, so he’ll thrive with adopters who can offer a calm, grounded environment.

Football Enthusiast: Bear loves his play sessions! His absolute favorite toy is a football (though fair warning: he will pop it pretty quickly!).

Independent Explorer: On walks, Bear loves to potter around off-lead, occasionally checking in with you for a quick fuss. He’s happy to politely say hello to other dogs before continuing on his way with you.

🏠 The Ideal Home for Bear

Because of Bear’s history and specific needs, his ideal home should tick the following boxes:

Experienced & Calm Household: Adopters should have previous dog experience to help manage his excitement and guide him with confidence.

Family Setup: Best suited to a home with older, secondary school-aged children who understand his need for calm space.

Pet Status: Must be the only dog in the home—he loves his independence and wants all your attention to himself!

Location & Garden: A quiet area away from loud surrounding noises (which can worry him), featuring a private, secure garden with 6ft fencing.

Routine & Company: Needs someone home for most of the day to help him settle into a home routine, refresh his house training, and gradually build up his confidence being left alone.

On-Lead Confidence: He can be a little strong on lead at times, so his owners will need to be physically confident handling him.

💙 Taking the Next Step

Bear takes a little time to warm up to unfamiliar people and build trust. His potential adopters will need to visit him at Millbrook a few times before taking him home.

He might not bond instantly on day one, but once you win his trust, you’ll have a loyal, loving friend for life!
